About ICGH10

History of ICGH

The International Conference on Gas Hydrate Conference is a triennial conference series focusing on research and development in wide variety of fields relevant to gas hydrates. Since the first ICGH held in 1993 with only 100 attendees, the conference has gained significant prominence in the hydrate community as the premier meeting for hydrate research, with the previous edition held in 2017, witnessing a participation of around 800. Today ICGH stands at a momentous point in its storied history with the 10th edition all set to take place in 2023. The following is the sequence of ICGH over the past 27 years along with the hosting cities:

  • 1st ICGH, 1993 – New Paltz, USA
  • 2nd ICGH, 1996 – Toulouse, France
  • 3rd ICGH, 1999 – Salt Lake City, USA
  • 4th ICGH, 2002 – Yokohama, Japan
  • 5th ICGH, 2005 – Trondheim, Norway
  • 6th ICGH, 2008 – Vancouver, Canada
  • 7th ICGH, 2011 – Edinburgh, UK
  • 8th ICGH, 2014 – Beijing, China
  • 9th ICGH, 2017 – Denver, USA

In 2023, we are privileged to host the 10th ICGH in Singapore – the lion city, a globally accessible island nation and a hub for technical advancement in the last three decades.

ICGH in 2023

ICGH10 aims to provide the platform to bring together the entire Gas Hydrates community, to review research developments on gas hydrates over the past three years, to foster synergistic collaboration and professional networking and to extrapolate for future near-term and long-term research prospects. We anticipate topics in every variety of topic regarding hydrates including, but not limited to gas hydrate fundamentals, gas hydrate technologies, natural gas hydrates (exploration and recovery), flow assurance and the environmental impacts (climate, geohazard etc).

We warmly welcome the participation of attendees from diverse backgrounds and communities and shall be looking forward to having a mix of academic researchers, industrial engineers and scientists, government scientists and policy makers. Participants can be from any range or level of expertise in their given field. Having such eclectic combination of attendees is sure to trigger intellectual stimulation as well as promote healthy exchange of the latest information.

This will be an exciting week that provides an opportunity for participants to network with fellow peers and colleagues involved in the same or different areas of hydrate research, to exchange ideas, expertise and experience, and to renew and foster friendships and professional relations. The programme has been tailored to catalyse interactive and valuable knowledge sharing through plenary, keynote, oral and poster sessions as well as social events.
